Among numerous exquisite sights in the Alps, the mountains of Chablais around Châtel are amongst the most beautiful.

The incredibly varied nature of the area, an isthmus of France in the Swiss Lower Alps, is due to its complicated geology which until recently remained a secret even for specialists.
The peaks, standings out clearly against sky, offer a series of superb panoramic vantage points with ever-changing views of the high peaks of Mont-Blanc, the majestic Swiss mountain ranges and peaceful Lake Geneva.
Through field and forest (in very welcome shade during the hot summer months), walkers pass through ever-changing scenery; every walk is unique, and never the same as that the previous day.
This is why the Châtel mountains are the ideal area for walkers who love the nature and beauty.

They are full of life; herds of cattle are driven up to the high pasture for summer; farmers spend the hot season working from their alpine chalets...and this traditional way of life is one of the main attractions of this very friendly land.

Local wild life is ever present, in particular on the slopes of Mont-de-Grange thanks to the work done by the local hunt who have turned it into a reserve and make a point of protecting the animals. Who has not dreamed of watching chamois dashing from rock to rock? But you need to be up early to catch them by surprise!
Qualified guides propose frequently guided walks in the heart of the reserve for that aim.
